We trust that whether you are a long-time participant in our community, just getting started, or simply here checking things out, you’ll sense the warm welcome we mean to extend and the love we experience in Jesus.
We make no claims to be the “perfect church” and can even guarantee that we’ll make mistakes. But we’re trying to be real – attempting to seek God without pretense. If that sounds like a pursuit worthy of your time too, then please join us. We’ll do everything we can to be faithful friends and pray that the kindness, sincerity, and merciful candor of Jesus will be experienced by you here.
So what do I mean by “trying to be real” and “without pretense” ?
For starters, authenticity, based on scriptures like James 5:16-18
“Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.”
So you are invited to join Bemidji Covenant Church based on authenticity and by that I mean:
• No pretending needed- only in a church where people are real are others free to be real too
• No pretending allowed – no one was ever set free because others pretended they were perfect
• No pretending unforgiven – authentic communities forgive those who realize they have been pretending
J Oswald Sanders has shaped me significantly and he says:
“Eyes that look are common. Eyes that see are rare.”
How is your eyesight around church?
